You Are Valuable

“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them ... God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.” (Genesis 1:27, 31)

Holding up $20 before the classroom, the instructor asked, “Who would like to have this $20?” Hands shot up all over the room. “Before I give it away though let me do this,” he then proceeded to crumple the bill. He asked then, “Who still wants it?” Of course the hands went up. “Well, what if I did this?” he said, as he dropped it to the floor and began to grind it with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled, dirty, and torn, “Who still wants it?” and the hands all still went up.

"My friends, hopefully you have all learned a valuable lesson here today. No matter what I did to the money, you still want it. Why? Because it did not decrease in value, no matter how dirty or worn, it is still worth $20."

"The point, you see, is that we have all known those times in life when we have felt dropped, crumpled, torn and ground into the dirt by decisions we’ve made and/or circumstances that have come our way that can leave us feeling worthless. The good news my friends is, no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are always priceless to those who love you. The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or whom we know, but, by who we are…people of God, created in His image, and loved by Him."
